Cyriel Dessers Shines as Rangers Overcome Dundee United 3-1

Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers delivered a standout performance to help Rangers secure a vital 3-1 victory over Dundee United, marking a resurgence in his form after weeks of criticism and reduced playing time.

The game began with Dundee United taking the lead in the 20th minute. English forward Sam Dalby capitalized on a rebound from Vicko Selvej’s blocked shot, slotting past Jack Butland to give the home side an early advantage.

Rangers found their equalizer in the 66th minute when Ivorian midfielder Mohamed Diomande showcased his brilliance. Receiving a pass from James Tavernier, Diomande dribbled past a defender and curled a shot into the bottom left corner, leveling the match.

The visitors took control four minutes later, with Dutch defender Robin Pröpper connecting perfectly with Ianis Hagi’s pinpoint cross to make it 2-1.

Cyriel Dessers sealed the win in style. After initially having a goal disallowed for offside, the Nigerian forward found redemption in the 80th minute. Diomande’s incisive pass sent Zak Lovelace charging into the Dundee United box. Lovelace unselfishly set up Dessers, who fired a powerful shot into the top corner from a tight angle, marking his fifth goal in three games.

The match ended on a sour note for Rangers as Diomande received a red card in injury time following an altercation, but the result leaves Rangers within 10 points of league leaders Celtic.

Dessers’ recent form could force manager Philippe Clement to reconsider his transfer plans for the Super Eagles star, who appears to be rediscovering his scoring touch at a critical time.
