Black Stars Forward Misses Key Chance as Coventry Falls in Championship Clash
Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has backed Ghanaian international Brandon Thomas-Asante following their 2-1 defeat to Norwich City in the English Championship. Despite missing a crucial scoring opportunity in the second half, the forward received no criticism from his manager, who focused on the team’s overall performance.
Thomas-Asante played the full 90 minutes of the match, which saw Coventry surrender a 1-0 lead. Norwich City’s comeback was powered by fellow Ghanaian midfielder Forson Amankwah, who delivered an exceptional brace to secure the victory.
Reflecting on the loss during the post-match press conference, Lampard commented on Thomas-Asante’s missed chance but refused to single him out for blame. “I’m never one to criticize. Everyone wants to score. If we get that right, we probably win the game, but it wasn’t to be. If he had scored his chance, he would have fully deserved that,” Lampard said.
Since joining Coventry City from West Bromwich Albion in the summer, the enterprising forward has made 27 appearances. Despite the defeat, Lampard remains confident in the Black Stars striker’s ability to contribute significantly to the team.
