Joshua Quarshie Joins Greuther Fürth: A New Chapter for the Rising Defender

German-Ghanaian talent seeks redemption after a tough stint at Fortuna Düsseldorf

Joshua Quarshie, the 20-year-old central defender and rising star of German football, has taken the next step in his career by joining SpVgg Greuther Fürth on loan for the second half of the season. The move comes after a challenging spell at Fortuna Düsseldorf, where Quarshie managed just 16 competitive appearances during a year-long loan from TSG Hoffenheim.

Speaking about his new opportunity, Quarshie shared his excitement: “I was very happy about Greuther Fürth’s interest. This is a fresh start, and I’m ready to give my all.”

Fürth’s sports director, Stephan Fürstner, praised the defender’s athleticism and physical presence, calling them key traits that will strengthen the club’s backline. As Greuther Fürth battles to stay clear of the relegation zone—currently sitting just three points above the drop—the club is counting on Quarshie’s dynamism and experience with Germany’s U20 national team to make an impact.

Coach Jan Siewert expressed confidence in the young defender: “His pace and playing style fit perfectly into our system. He brings the qualities we need to secure our position in the league.”

Quarshie will now aim to prove himself as a reliable force in defense while helping Fürth maintain their 2. Bundesliga status.
