Plymouth Argyle has pulled off a landmark signing by securing the services of Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo from Swedish club IF Elfsborg in a record-breaking deal for the English Championship side.
For over a year, Jim Dickinson, Plymouth’s head of recruitment, had been monitoring Baidoo’s progress, captivated by his performances. Now, Dickinson’s patience has paid off.
“Michael is someone we have been aware of for a long time, and I am delighted that we have finally been able to bring him to Argyle,” Dickinson said.
Baidoo’s signing comes after a stellar season at Elfsborg, where the 25-year-old scored 10 goals in 27 league matches, helping the Swedish side secure a seventh-place finish. His outstanding displays also shone on the European stage during Elfsborg’s Europa League campaign and earned him his debut for Ghana’s senior national team.
“We believe Michael will make a real impact on English football. He brings versatility, talent, and ambition. Importantly, he chose Argyle over several top European clubs, which shows his determination to thrive in England,” Dickinson added.
Baidoo will don the number 30 jersey at Plymouth Argyle. Fans are eagerly awaiting his debut as the midfielder looks to showcase his talent in one of the most competitive leagues in the world.
