Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus has shed light on the challenges and expectations of working under West Ham United manager Graham Potter. The Englishman, who took over the reins in January after Julen Lopetegui’s departure, has already begun shaping the team with his distinct tactical style.
Since Potter’s arrival, Kudus has been instrumental in the Hammers’ squad, adapting to various roles, including as a false nine in a match against Crystal Palace. Speaking about the experience, Kudus described Potter as a demanding coach with a clear vision.
“He (Graham Potter) demands a lot as well. He wants us to play, press, keep the ball, and literally try to win every single game,” Kudus explained. “The aim of the squad remains the same – to win games and climb up the table – but the way we execute it on the pitch changes with his approach.”
In the three Premier League matches under Potter, West Ham has secured a win, a draw, and a loss, with Kudus continuing to prove his worth. Despite the shift in managerial tactics, the Ghanaian international emphasized the team’s unwavering mentality and energy.
“On the pitch, the tactical stuff changes a little bit, but our efforts and passion remain constant. Every manager has a unique way of understanding the game, and Potter’s methods add a new dimension for us to adapt to,” he added.
Kudus’ standout performances, including a solid display in the away draw against Aston Villa, underline his growing influence at West Ham. As the Hammers aim to climb the league table, Kudus remains a pivotal figure in Potter’s evolving system.
