Myron Boadu Faces Uphill Battle to Reclaim Starting Spot at VfL Bochum

Dutch-Ghanaian striker Myron Boadu is facing a challenging road back to VfL Bochum’s starting lineup following a lengthy recovery from pubic bone inflammation that sidelined him for nearly two months. While he marked his return with a winning goal in a friendly against Heracles Almelo, his overall performances have not yet convinced head coach Dieter Hecking.

“I’m not completely convinced of him at the moment. That’s not what I want yet,” Hecking said, openly critiquing the 22-year-old’s recent form. Although the coach acknowledged Boadu’s unique abilities, he emphasized the need for greater effort and consistency to meet the demands of a struggling team.

“He just has to jump over his shadow and offer more in training, just like the others do,” Hecking added, stressing the importance of a fighting spirit as Bochum battles to escape the relegation zone in the Bundesliga.

For Boadu, the message is clear: consistent performances on the pitch and improved intensity in training will be essential to reclaim his place as a regular starter and help his team climb the table.
