Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that young defender Jarell Quansah is set to return for Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Accrington Stanley after recovering from an illness.
The 21-year-old center-back, who has been in fine form this season, was forced off during the first half of Liverpool’s recent Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur. His early substitution raised concerns about a possible injury, but Slot clarified the situation during a press conference.
“Jarell was a bit ill last week, which is why I had to take him off against Spurs,” Slot explained. “Thankfully, it wasn’t anything serious, and I expect him to be available tomorrow.”
With Joe Gomez still sidelined due to a hamstring injury, Quansah’s return will bolster Liverpool’s defensive line. Slot also provided an update on midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, who has been battling health issues. “Dom trained with the Under-21s yesterday, so we’re monitoring his progress closely,” he said.
Quansah, who is eligible to represent both England and Ghana, has impressed fans this season with his calmness on the ball and defensive maturity. His availability for the FA Cup clash will be a significant boost as Liverpool aims to continue their run in the competition.
