Randy Abbey Juggles Leadership Roles Amid Public Scrutiny

Dr. Randy Abbey has found himself at the center of public debate after taking on multiple high-profile roles within Ghanaian football and governance. Just days after being named Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, he was appointed CEO of Ghana COCOBOD by President John Mahama.

With responsibilities spanning football administration and a key government institution, many questioned whether he could effectively manage it all. However, Dr. Abbey remains unfazed.

Speaking to Citi Sports, he addressed concerns about his workload, clarifying that while he owns Heart of Lions, he is not involved in its daily operations. “I don’t run Heart of Lions on a day-to-day basis. I’m the owner, and it ends there. I’m the president of the club, but there are people who manage it,” he stated.

Beyond his roles with the Black Stars and COCOBOD, Dr. Abbey also serves as a Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member. As scrutiny continues, he remains confident in his ability to contribute effectively across all fronts.
