From Dutch Youth Ranks to Finnish Football: Polley’s Journey of Resilience
FF Jaro has officially welcomed Dutch-Ghanaian defender Robin Polley, a versatile right-back, to their squad on a contract that runs through 2025. The 26-year-old, who has battled injuries and challenges throughout his career, sees this move as the perfect opportunity to rebuild and thrive in a focused football environment.
Polley, born in the Netherlands to Ghanaian parents, comes from a lineage of football excellence. His father, a former professional player, made over 150 appearances in the Dutch and Belgian top leagues, paving the way for Robin’s passion for the sport. The young Polley began his football education at Feyenoord’s renowned academy before moving to ADO Den Haag in 2018, where he gained top-flight experience in the Eredivisie.
Over the years, Polley showcased his abilities at clubs like FC Dordrecht, Heracles Almelo, and Telstar, proving his skill and determination across various tiers of Dutch football. Despite facing significant injury setbacks, Polley’s resilience has shone through, culminating in his move to FF Jaro.
“FF Jaro is the best option for me right now. Here, I can fully focus on football,” Polley shared during his unveiling.
The coaching staff has already been impressed with Polley’s speed, technical ability, and professional attitude during training sessions. His approachable personality and fluent English have also made his transition to the Finnish side smooth, both on and off the pitch.
FF Jaro is optimistic about Polley’s impact, with hopes that his rich experience and determination will boost the team in the seasons ahead.
