Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu delivered a solid performance for AS Monaco on Friday night, but his efforts couldn’t prevent a 2-1 defeat to Montpellier in a thrilling Ligue 1 encounter.
Hoping to break a three-game losing streak, Monaco started strong, with Salisu anchoring the defense. The visitors struck first through Thilo Kehrer, who converted Lamine Camara’s assist in the 32nd minute. The lead stood firm until halftime.
However, Montpellier staged a dramatic comeback, thanks to Mousa Al-Tamari’s brilliance. The Jordanian forward netted twice in the second half, handing the hosts all three points and extending Monaco’s winless run to four matches.
Despite playing the full 90 minutes and earning an impressive 7.1 rating, Salisu and his teammates were left frustrated at full-time. AS Monaco will now need to regroup quickly as they aim to bounce back in their next fixture.
