“San Diego FC Banks on Emmanuel Boateng’s Experience for MLS Debut”

Ghanaian Forward Set to Lead Expansion Club’s Inaugural Season

San Diego FC is gearing up for its debut season in Major League Soccer, and the expansion club has turned to experienced Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Boateng to help guide their journey. The 30-year-old has signed a one-year deal, bringing a decade of MLS experience to the team.

Sporting Director Tyler Heaps expressed confidence in Boateng’s abilities, emphasizing his value to the club. “Ema is a seasoned veteran in Major League Soccer who has been a part of very successful teams. His history and connection with Right to Dream is a huge benefit to us as we look to build this club from scratch,” Heaps said.

Boateng, a product of Ghana’s renowned Right to Dream Academy, boasts an impressive MLS resume. Over nine seasons, he has made 219 appearances, including 106 starts, contributing 19 goals and 27 assists. His career includes stints with LA Galaxy, D.C. United, Columbus Crew, and New England Revolution.

Notably, Boateng played a pivotal role in the New England Revolution’s 2021 Supporters’ Shield-winning season, recording two goals and four assists. His time with the Revolution saw him rack up 89 appearances (36 starts), eight goals, and 12 assists.

As San Diego FC embarks on its inaugural campaign, the club will rely on Boateng’s leadership and experience to make an immediate impact in MLS.
