Former GHALCA chairman, Alhaji Raji, has reignited optimism around the Black Stars’ campaign to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Following back-to-back wins against Mali and the Central African Republic, Ghana sits second in Group I with nine points, keeping their qualification hopes alive.

Despite the disappointment of failing to secure a place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)—a first in 20 years—Alhaji Raji remains hopeful. Speaking to Asempa FM, he urged unity and strong leadership to navigate the challenging road ahead.

“Let’s all come together and rally behind the Black Stars despite whatever has happened in the past,” he said. “Qualifying for the World Cup is a big task but it is a doable task. It must start with Kurt Okraku initiating efforts to unify stakeholders and fans for this important mission.”

The Black Stars’ journey resumes in March, with crucial matches against Chad and Madagascar. According to Alhaji Raji, teamwork and dedication will be pivotal to booking a ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
