Ghana’s Black Queens are embracing a new chapter under the guidance of Swedish coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren, who has lauded their team spirit and dedication after just a week of training.
Despite a narrow defeat in their international friendly against Morocco, Bjorkegren remains optimistic about the squad’s progress. “This team arrived as one group but is leaving as a much stronger unit,” he shared, highlighting the impressive transformation in just a short time.
The coach emphasized the importance of unity both on and off the pitch, praising the players’ commitment to hard work and high-intensity training. “The team spirit here is fantastic. They have been pushing themselves every day,” he said.
Bjorkegren, who took charge of the Black Queens last week, is preparing the team for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco this July. While a scheduled friendly against Raja Athletic was canceled, the Ghana Football Association has assured fans that a new fixture will be arranged soon.
With a renewed sense of purpose and a coach determined to instill a high-energy playing style, the Black Queens are setting their sights on making a strong impression in WAFCON 2024.
