Veteran football administrator and King Faisal owner, Alhaji Karim Grusah, has voiced his concerns over Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, citing the team’s recent struggles on the international stage.
The Black Stars have been underwhelming in recent years, with their most notable setback being their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)—a painful first in two decades. Ghana endured a disastrous campaign, finishing at the bottom of their group with just three points from six games.
Despite showing some improvement in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers—where they have collected nine points from four matches—Grusah remains unconvinced. Speaking to Sporty FM, the former Black Stars Management Committee member expressed his doubts.
“I don’t think Black Stars can qualify for the World Cup,” he stated. “However, I think it is also in the hands of God, but the right things must be done if we want the team to qualify. I am a Ghanaian, and I would want to see the team qualify.”
With crucial fixtures against Chad and Madagascar coming up next month, the Black Stars must prove they have what it takes to turn things around. Will they rise to the occasion, or will Grusah’s fears become reality?
