Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana marked his return from injury in style as Atalanta delivered a commanding 5-0 victory over Hellas Verona on Serie A matchday 24.
Sulemana, who had been sidelined earlier in the season, was introduced in the 72nd minute, replacing team captain Marten De Roon. Despite limited minutes, the 21-year-old put in a composed display, winning ground duels and making key tackles. His efforts earned him a 6.7 rating on SofaScore.
This was Sulemana’s fourth league appearance of the season, and his return comes at a crucial time for Atalanta, who are preparing for their UEFA Champions League knockout clash against Club Brugge on Wednesday. Having been registered for the competition, the midfielder could play a role in the European fixture.
As he looks to cement his place in Atalanta’s squad, Sulemana will also be hoping to catch the attention of Black Stars selectors for future national team call-ups.
Atalanta, currently sitting third in Serie A with 50 points, remain in contention for the title, trailing leaders Napoli by five points.
