In the heart of Ghana’s World Cup qualifying campaign, midfielder Elisha Owusu finds himself on the sidelines, not by choice but by fate. The AJ Auxerre star, originally named in Otto Addo’s 23-man squad, suffered an untimely injury over the weekend, forcing him to withdraw.
Despite the setback, Owusu’s spirit remains unshaken. His replacement, young Lawrence Agyekum, may have taken his spot, but his belief in the team is unwavering.
Taking to social media, the 27-year-old expressed his disappointment but reaffirmed his trust in his teammates.
“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to join the squad for our FIFA World Cup qualifiers due to injury, but I have full confidence in my teammates to get the job done,” he shared.
Though he won’t be on the pitch when Ghana faces Chad on March 21 and Madagascar three days later in Morocco, Owusu’s heart beats with the Black Stars. He remains optimistic, focused on recovery, and fully behind his team’s mission to secure crucial victories.
