Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku has set his sights on the Black Stars’ upcoming clash against Madagascar following their emphatic 5-0 victory over Chad in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The Fenerbahce center-back played the full 90 minutes on Friday night as Ghana delivered a commanding performance at the Accra Sports Stadium. The dominant win propelled the Black Stars to the top of Group I, strengthening their bid to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana raced to a 3-0 lead by halftime with goals from Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams, and Jordan Ayew. The second half saw Mohammed Salisu and Ernest Nuamah add to the tally, sealing a comprehensive triumph for Coach Otto Addo’s side.
After the game, Djiku took to Instagram to celebrate the victory and turn his focus to the next challenge, writing, “Five guys. Amazing atmosphere. Let’s focus on Monday.”
The Black Stars will face Madagascar away on Monday, March 24, in Round 6 of the African qualifiers. With Ghana leading Group I after their fifth-round success, a win in Madagascar would further solidify their chances of making it to the World Cup.
However, Madagascar remains a serious contender, trailing Ghana by just two points. They will be eager to claim all three points and reclaim the group’s top spot.
The upcoming clash promises to be a crucial encounter as both teams push for a place on football’s biggest stage next year.
