Ghana’s Rise in Women’s Football Continues Despite Friendly Setback
Ghana’s Black Queens are on the rise! The latest FIFA rankings see the team move up one spot to 65th in the world and fifth in Africa, reflecting their steady progress despite a recent friendly defeat to Morocco.
With Nigeria leading the African rankings, followed by South Africa, Morocco, and Zambia, Ghana’s climb signifies their growing strength ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The Black Queens, making a long-awaited return to the tournament since 2018, are drawn in Group C, where they will face defending champions South Africa, Tanzania, and Mali.
In preparation for the challenge ahead, the Ghana Football Association has scheduled a nine-day training camp in Senegal this April. With momentum on their side, the Black Queens are determined to make a statement in Morocco.
