As the Super Eagles gear up for their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda, Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has sent a strong message of determination and belief.
Speaking in Kigali ahead of Friday’s match, Boniface acknowledged Nigeria’s shaky start to the qualifiers but emphasized the team’s unwavering focus on turning things around.
“We know how important this game is—not just for us as players, but for the entire country,” he said. “We need to be at the World Cup, and I can speak for myself and my teammates—we’re ready to give our best and hopefully secure a win.”
The Super Eagles have faced scrutiny over their recent performances, but Boniface assured fans that the squad is locked in and fully committed.
“You can see it in training—everyone is focused, ready, and looking forward to the game. Our aim is clear, and we hope to achieve it by getting the win,” he added.
Friday’s match marks Nigeria’s first under new head coach Eric Shell, and while adapting to a new system has its challenges, Boniface remains unfazed.
“It’s been really tough,” he admitted. “But regardless of who the coach is, we know the weight of representing Nigeria. We always give 100%, and that won’t change. The most important thing is that we’re ready and looking forward to the game.”
With the stakes high and World Cup qualification hanging in the balance, Boniface and his teammates are determined to make a statement against Rwanda and reignite their campaign.
