The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) is offering young African storytellers a unique opportunity to sharpen their skills through the Young Reporters Workshop at the upcoming CAF African Schools Football Championship continental finals. Set to take place in Accra, Ghana from April 21-26, 2025, the workshop aims to nurture the next generation of football journalists.
In partnership with CANAL+ University, CAF invites aspiring journalists under the age of 25 to apply for this hands-on training experience. Participants will receive expert guidance through masterclasses led by renowned CANAL+ journalist Charles Mbuya and gain real-world reporting experience during the tournament.
To be considered, candidates must submit a covering letter explaining their passion for football journalism, a resume, and a sample of their work—whether a text article, audio clip, or video—to youngreporter@cafonline.com. The application deadline is April 4, 2025.
The workshop is part of a broader collaboration between CAF and CANAL+ INTERNATIONAL to develop sports journalism training programs across the continent. Since the competition’s inception in 2022, the Young Reporters Workshop has played a crucial role in equipping young talents with the skills to tell the stories of African football.
Beyond the Young Reporters Workshop, the CAF African Schools Football Championship continental finals will also host several other development initiatives, including:
CAF D License Coaching Course
CAF Safeguarding Workshops
Safety and Security Workshops
Young Medical Officers Programme
Young Referee Programme
