Ghanaian forward provides crucial assist in hard-fought Serie A encounter
In a thrilling Serie A showdown at the Unipol Domus, Ghanaian international Caleb Ekuban delivered a moment of brilliance to help Genoa salvage a crucial point against Cagliari on Friday night.
The former Black Stars regular was instrumental in his team’s performance, starting in a high-intensity Round 28 fixture of the 2024/25 Italian Serie A season. Despite Genoa’s determined efforts in the first half, they found themselves trailing at the break after Nicolas Viola, assisted by Roberto Piccoli, gave Cagliari the lead.
Undeterred, Genoa responded swiftly in the second half. Just two minutes after the restart, Ekuban turned provider, setting up Maxwell Cornet for a well-taken equalizer that reignited the contest.
Both teams battled fiercely for a winner, but resolute defending and missed opportunities meant the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
With this performance, Caleb Ekuban has now registered one goal and three assists in 13 Serie A appearances this season, further cementing his importance in Genoa’s campaign.
