From Boots to Bills: Boy Sells Victor Boniface’s Gift to Rwandan Player for $100

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has sparked laughter online with his playful reaction after learning that a Nigerian boy sold a pair of football boots he gifted him to a Rwandan player for $100.

The boy, who attended Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda—a match the Super Eagles lost 2-1—shared his story in a video posted by journalist Toyosi Afolayan. He revealed that despite receiving the boots from the Bayer Leverkusen star after the game, financial struggles pushed him to sell them.

Boniface, known for his humor, responded under a Sportsblog247.com post, jokingly asking for a share of the proceeds.

“Abeg, make una find this boy for me. Make he drop 10% of the money ooo,” he quipped, playfully suggesting the boy owes him a cut of the $100 sale.

When photojournalist Sulaiman Adebayo, also known as Pooja, reshared the video, Boniface doubled down on the joke, saying:

“I for give am jersey ooooo, but this guy fit go sell am again. If I give am money, he fit use am buy jersey too.”

The story has since gone viral, with fans praising Boniface’s light-hearted reaction and sharing their amusement across social media.
