As the Black Stars prepare for their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has called on the team to reignite their fighting spirit and restore national pride.
Ghana, returning to action for the first time this year, will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24. With the team looking to bounce back from their disappointing AFCON 2025 qualification campaign, Adams believes these matches present the perfect chance for redemption.
Addressing the squad during their first training session on Monday, Adams urged the players to embrace teamwork and determination.
“I know we are winning. Let’s work together and understand each other. Football is teamwork, not an individual game. Let’s resurrect the spirit, and it will reflect in the supporters. I know you can do it. There is no team better than you in Africa,” he stated passionately.
After missing out on AFCON for the first time in over two decades, the Black Stars are eager to make a statement in the World Cup qualifiers. Currently second in Group I with nine points, level with leaders Comoros, Ghana must secure maximum points against Chad and Madagascar to stay on course for a spot at the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
