Antoine Semenyo has been a standout performer for Bournemouth this season, but former Ghana international Matthew Amoah believes a move to Tottenham Hotspur would not be in the forward’s best interest.
The 25-year-old has been in fine form, netting nine goals and providing five assists in 31 appearances across all competitions. His impressive displays have attracted interest from top clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Napoli. Reports suggest Tottenham is preparing a €40 million (£33.5 million) bid to sign him.
However, Amoah has questioned the logic behind such a transfer, insisting that Bournemouth currently offers a better platform for Semenyo to thrive.
“With all due respect to Tottenham, if this is the only offer that comes to Semenyo this summer, then he should stay at Bournemouth,” Amoah told Africa Foot.
He went on to emphasize Bournemouth’s stability under manager Andoni Iraola. “Bournemouth are currently a better team on the pitch than Tottenham and seem more stable with a very good coach. So, joining a club that is far behind would be a demotion that makes no footballing sense.”
As Semenyo continues to shine, he is expected to be named in Ghana’s squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar later this month. The question remains—will he stay at Bournemouth or take the risk of a high-profile move?
