Otto Addo Demands Focus as Black Stars Chase Crucial Win Over Madagascar

Ghana coach Otto Addo has called for total concentration as the Black Stars prepare to face Madagascar in a decisive 2026 World Cup qualifier on Monday.

A victory would give Ghana a commanding position at the top of Group I, extending their lead by at least three points. Despite the opportunity to strengthen their grip on the group, Addo remains cautious and is urging his players to stay humble and focused.

“The most important thing is to believe in our own strength and stay confident,” Addo said. “It was a good victory for us in a difficult time, and now we have to build on it. No matter who we play, we have the quality to beat anyone, but football isn’t simple mathematics.”

Addo warned against complacency, emphasizing that dominating a game does not always guarantee a win. “You can be the better team, create more chances, and still not win. That’s why we need to stay completely focused. Nobody should relax or start thinking about the World Cup already—we must take it step by step,” he added.

With the Black Stars aiming for back-to-back wins, Addo highlighted the team’s commitment to maintaining a clean sheet and tightening their hold on the group standings.

As the stakes rise, Ghana’s quest for World Cup qualification continues, with Addo leading the charge for discipline and determination.
