With the 2026 World Cup qualifiers heating up, Ghana’s head coach Otto Addo has described their crucial encounter against Madagascar as a “small final,” emphasizing the high stakes involved.
The Black Stars will face off against Madagascar at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium tonight in a pivotal Matchday Six clash, with kick-off set for 19:00 GMT. The game carries significant weight as Ghana aims to tighten their grip on the top spot in Group I.
Speaking to the Ghana FA media, Addo underscored the need for absolute focus and effort from his players.
“We need everyone to be on their toes,” he stated firmly. “We don’t need 98%, we don’t need 99%, we need 100%. This game is like a small final, and if we win, we take a big step toward qualification, but it will be very tough.”
Addo also acknowledged the threat posed by the Malagasy side, who come into the game in fine form. “We observed the Madagascar team, and they have done really well, especially in their last game, so it’s going to be a tough contest,” he added.
Ghana enters the match buoyed by a commanding victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium. With 12 points, the Black Stars currently lead Group I and will look to maintain their momentum against a determined Madagascar side.
