After a difficult 2024 campaign, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is determined to restore confidence and positivity as Ghana prepares for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
Ghana, a four-time African champion, had a challenging year, securing only two wins in ten matches and failing to qualify for the 2025 AFCON. However, Addo sees the upcoming fixtures as a chance to shift the team’s mindset and rebuild momentum.
“For me, it’s not just about World Cup or AFCON qualifiers; every game is important,” Addo told TV3. “I know the statistics count, but we must focus on improving and giving our best in each match. I’m really looking forward to these games to bring back positivity and confidence to the players.”
The Black Stars will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 21 before taking on Madagascar in Morocco three days later. With nine points, Ghana sits joint top of their qualifying group alongside Comoros, making these fixtures crucial for their World Cup hopes.
