Spanish La Liga side Real Betis have set their sights on Ghanaian defender Jonas Adjetey, currently plying his trade at Swiss club FC Basel.
The Andalusian club has reportedly initiated talks with FC Basel and is prepared to table a €4 million offer for the 21-year-old center-back. Despite having three years remaining on his contract, Adjetey could be on the move this summer if negotiations between the two clubs reach a positive conclusion.
According to sources close to the player’s management, discussions are still in the early stages but progressing positively.
“The two clubs (Basel and Real Betis) have been in contact for two days. Betis sees him as a future top-tier defender and wants to complete his transfer before his market value increases further. Discussions are still in the early stages, but the situation is encouraging, especially since Jonas (Adjetey) is very interested in the move,” the source revealed to Sportsblog247.com.
Adjetey’s desire to play in one of Europe’s top leagues aligns with Betis’ ambition to bolster their defensive ranks. The young Ghanaian is eager to test himself against some of the world’s best in La Liga.
The Black Stars defender returns to FC Basel following a successful spell with Ghana during the March World Cup qualifiers. This season, he has featured prominently for the Swiss giants, making 26 appearances across all competitions and showcasing his defensive prowess.
With Real Betis keen to secure Adjetey before his value skyrockets, all eyes are on the negotiations as both clubs navigate the possibility of a summer transfer.
