Sadiq Umar Joins Super Eagles Camp as Nigeria Gears Up for Rwanda Clash

Kigali, Rwanda – The Super Eagles’ World Cup qualifying preparations received a major boost on Tuesday morning with the arrival of Valencia forward Sadiq Umar at the team’s camp in Kigali. His presence increases the squad count to 22 players, leaving only Alhassan Ibrahim expected before Friday’s crucial match against Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium.

Since opening camp on Sunday night, the Nigerian team has been steadily assembling, with a mix of key players, technical staff, and officials settling in. Training has been intense, with gym sessions and tactical drills sharpening the squad’s focus ahead of the high-stakes encounter.

A recent video circulating online showcases the team’s rigorous training under the supervision of head coach Eric Chelle, who will be delighted to have an in-form Umar at his disposal. The 27-year-old striker has been in red-hot form since securing a loan move to Valencia in January, scoring four goals in eight La Liga matches and playing a pivotal role in his club’s battle against relegation.

With Nigeria currently sitting fifth in Group C, nothing less than victory will suffice if they are to revive their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The addition of Umar, alongside Nigeria’s other attacking stars, could prove decisive in breaking down Rwanda’s defense and securing a much-needed three points.
