The Redemption Call: Should Andre Ayew Return to the Black Stars?

For over a decade, Andre Ayew has been the heartbeat of Ghanaian football. His passion, leadership, and knack for delivering in crucial moments have made him a revered figure in the Black Stars setup. Yet, for almost a year, his name has been missing from the squad list.

Now, with Ghana preparing for decisive 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, calls for his return are growing louder. Among those advocating for his recall is New Edubiase president Yakubu Abdul Salam, who firmly believes Ayew still has a role to play.

“André Ayew deserves another chance with the Black Stars. We all know his commitment to the national team, and even if he doesn’t score, he knows how to assist his teammates,” Salam stated.

At 34, Ayew has silenced doubters with his performances for Le Havre in the French Ligue 1, scoring four goals and providing one assist in a tough relegation battle. His experience and leadership could be the missing piece in Ghana’s quest for World Cup qualification.

The big question remains: Will head coach Otto Addo hand Ayew a shot at redemption?
