After a remarkable return from a career-threatening injury, Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi is now at the center of a heated transfer battle between Turkish giants Besiktas and Italian side Lazio.
The 22-year-old forward, currently plying his trade at Slavia Prague, has been in sensational form since returning from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that sidelined him for over a year. Despite the setback, Durosinmi has bounced back stronger, netting five goals and providing two assists in his last seven starts.
His resurgence has reignited interest across Europe. Lazio, who were reportedly close to sealing a deal with Slavia Prague, now face stiff competition from Besiktas, a club boasting 16 Turkish Super Lig titles. According to reports from Lazio News, the Black Eagles are preparing a summer swoop to lure the Nigerian striker to Istanbul.
Durosinmi, valued at €4.1 million, is expected to command a fee closer to €8 million if either club hopes to secure his signature.
Besiktas or Lazio: Which is the Right Move?
A switch to Besiktas could offer Durosinmi the opportunity to become a key figure in a team renowned for its passionate fanbase and domestic dominance. However, the fierce rivalries among Istanbul’s footballing giants could create a pressurized environment that may test his mental fortitude.
On the other hand, Lazio presents a chance to play in one of Europe’s top five leagues. While the Biancocelesti are not perennial Serie A title contenders, they have a solid track record of developing talent. Recent examples include Matteo Guendouzi, Loum Tchaouna, and Nuno Tavares, who have flourished in Rome.
A move to Lazio could also offer Durosinmi greater visibility on the international stage and the chance to refine his game alongside elite-level teammates, potentially paving the way for an even bigger transfer in the future.
With the summer transfer window fast approaching, all eyes will be on Durosinmi as he weighs the next step in his promising career.
