After a mixed bag of results in their double-header against Senegal, Ghana’s Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has promised a tactical reset to boost the team’s overall performance—especially in attack.
The Black Queens edged the Teranga Lionesses 1-0 in the first friendly, but the Senegalese bounced back to hand Ghana a 1-0 defeat in the second match. Despite the split results, Coach Bjorkegren believes the performances left room for improvement.
In his post-match comments on Tuesday, the Swedish tactician emphasized that while the defensive structure is coming together, the team still lacks cohesion between the midfield and the attack.
“I think we can play better football. That’s what I’ll take from these matches,” Bjorkegren said. “We’re in the process—we’ve started with building the defense, and now we’re working on the midfield and the connection to the attacking part. In these two games, we couldn’t make that connection.”
He stressed that the next training camp will be crucial in “connecting all the pieces” to ensure a more complete and dominant team.
“If we manage to do that, we’ll be a much better team. Even though we won the first game, our performance still has to improve.”
Coach Bjorkegren’s comments reflect a broader vision for the Black Queens, as they aim to evolve into a well-rounded side capable of competing at the highest level.
