West Ham United’s hopes of securing points at Molineux were dashed as a last-minute injury to star midfielder Mohammed Kudus disrupted their plans.
Manager Graham Potter admitted that losing Kudus during training on Monday, just days after his return from international duty, was a significant setback. The Ghanaian playmaker was left out of the squad for Tuesday evening’s clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, where the Hammers suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat.
“It was difficult, we lost Mo [Kudus] yesterday and [Jean-Clair] Todibo as well, so we had to readjust quickly,” Potter revealed after the game.
The absence of Kudus, who has been instrumental for West Ham this season, forced Potter to rethink his tactical approach. The manager deployed Luis for his pace but admitted the team struggled to utilize him effectively.
“They’ll get better for the experience,” he said, referring to the younger players stepping in. “At the same time, we know we need to get points, so we’ve got to strike that balance.”
As West Ham turns its attention to the upcoming clash against Bournemouth on Saturday, the extent of Kudus’ injury remains unclear, leaving fans and the club anxious about his return.
