Borussia Mönchengladbach’s teenage talent Charles Herrmann has been dealt an unfortunate blow just as he looked poised to take the next big step in his career.
The 19-year-old German-Ghanaian winger, fresh off making the senior Bundesliga squad twice last season, was eager to use the summer preseason to cement his place in the first team. However, his momentum has been halted by an elbow injury sustained during the European Under-19 Championship.
According to Bild, Herrmann is now sidelined and will miss the club’s crucial training camp in Rottach-Egern scheduled from July 19 to 25. His agent, Daniel Neuber, confirmed the setback: “I was involved in the investigation. It is expected that it will take three or four weeks for Charles to be able to participate in the training company again.”
Currently in a plaster and undergoing conservative treatment, Herrmann faces a race against time to be match-fit ahead of the new Bundesliga season. While the timing is disappointing, the youngster remains hopeful of returning to full training in the coming weeks and continuing his rise within the Gladbach ranks.
