Arsenal star Thomas Partey has expressed heartfelt gratitude after being named the 2025 Footballer of the Year at the prestigious Ghana Football Awards, marking his third consecutive win of the nation’s top individual football honour.
The 31-year-old midfielder, who also received the Football for Good award alongside Black Stars teammate Tariq Lamptey for their philanthropic contributions, edged out strong contenders Antoine Semenyo and Inaki Williams at the glittering ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday night.
Speaking during his acceptance speech, Partey described the award as one of the most meaningful milestones in his career:
> “First of all, I want to say thank you to the organisers. It’s been three times on a roll. I appreciate that. And also to everyone who voted for me. I know it’s not easy. I have a lot of mates who deserve it. I’m not the only one, but as you know, I have the support of my family.
I take this with as much importance as any award I would receive in my career. I really appreciate it, and I love it.”
The honour caps off an impressive campaign for Partey, who played a vital role in Arsenal’s run to the UEFA Champions League semifinals and their second-place finish in the English Premier League. Despite injury setbacks earlier in the season, his commanding performances down the stretch proved instrumental to the Gunners’ success.
Partey’s recognition at the Ghana Football Awards highlights not just his consistency on the pitch but also his growing impact off it. His joint win in the Football for Good category celebrates his ongoing efforts to uplift communities in Ghana, particularly through youth development and social outreach.
This latest accolade adds to Partey’s legacy as one of Ghana’s most decorated and influential footballers of the modern era.
