Former club Ajax set to benefit from Ghana star’s big-money move to North London

Dutch football giants Ajax are poised to receive a financial boost following Mohammed Kudus’ high-profile switch to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Ghanaian midfielder completed a €64 million move from West Ham United to the Europa League champions, signing a six-year contract that ends weeks of speculation linking him with Liverpool and Chelsea. But beyond the headlines, Ajax have a reason to celebrate too.

Having initially sold Kudus to West Ham for €43 million, the Amsterdam club smartly included a resale clause in the deal. Reports suggest Ajax will pocket between €2.4 million and €3.6 million as part of that agreement. In addition, a solidarity contribution of around €1 million — a FIFA-mandated reward for player development — pushes their total earnings from the transfer close to €5 million.

Kudus, who scored 19 goals in 80 appearances for West Ham, will now join Thomas Frank’s Spurs squad for pre-season preparations. His first test in Tottenham colours? A mouthwatering UEFA Super League clash against European champions Paris Saint-Germain.
