Kamaldeen Sulemana Pens Emotional Goodbye to Southampton After Atalanta Switch

Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has officially bid farewell to Southampton FC following his high-profile move to Italian Serie A side Atalanta BC.

The 22-year-old completed the switch last week in a deal reportedly worth €17.5 million, with an additional €4 million in performance-related bonuses, marking his first foray into Italian football.

Sulemana took to social media on Wednesday to express gratitude to Southampton, thanking the club for its role in his growth and development.

“Through the highs & lows, Southampton FC have been a family. Together, we’ve grown through what we’ve been through. For the lessons & development, I wish you the best this season & the future. Thank you, Saints. March on Saints!!” he wrote on X.

Sulemana joined Southampton in January 2023 from Stade Rennais for a then club-record fee. In his brief but eventful spell, he featured in 34 Premier League games, scoring five goals and providing two assists. Despite Southampton’s relegation that season, the Ghanaian speedster stood out with his pace, flair, and fearless dribbling—qualities that quickly caught the eye of Atalanta’s recruitment team.

His transfer now reunites him with former Southampton boss Ivan Juric, who recently took over at Atalanta. The move presents an exciting new chapter for Sulemana as he aims to make a strong impact in Serie A and return to continental competitions.
