After clinching a well-deserved bronze medal at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Ghana’s Black Queens have earned admiration across the continent — and none more so than from within their own camp.
Forward Princella Adubea, a key figure in the squad, has praised the overall quality and depth of the team, describing the current lineup as one of the most balanced in recent memory.
Speaking in an interview with Sportsblog247.com, Adubea reflected on the team’s journey in the tournament. Despite a slow start, the Black Queens found their rhythm, fought through tough matches, and ultimately secured their best finish since 2016.
“The quality of the Black Queens team is very high, from the goalkeeping department to the attackers,” she said. “All the players have genuine talents.”
Her remarks come as the team sets its sights on the next challenge — qualification for the next WAFCON and, more importantly, a place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. A semifinal finish at the next continental tournament would guarantee that dream.
Their bronze medal success has already drawn national recognition. Former President John Mahama and the Minority Caucus in Parliament have stepped forward with financial support, acknowledging the team’s resilience, passion, and determination.
With unity, skill, and growing national backing, the Black Queens are not just rebuilding — they’re rising with intent.
