Black Starlets Sharpen Blades Ahead of WAFU Zone B U-17 Battle

The future stars of Ghanaian football, the Black Starlets, are in full throttle as they intensify preparations for the all-important WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship. With the tournament now set for September in Côte d’Ivoire, the team has moved camp to the University of Ghana in Legon, leaving their earlier base at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

Training at the University of Ghana Stadium Annex, the Starlets are blending tactical sessions with rigorous physical conditioning. The move to Legon provides improved facilities and closer access to advanced technical drills — all aimed at fine-tuning the boys for the challenge ahead.

Originally scheduled to be staged in Nigeria, the tournament’s shift to Côte d’Ivoire raises the stakes as Ghana prepares to lock horns with West Africa’s finest: Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Niger, and Benin.

For the Starlets, this isn’t just another competition. It’s a mission — a quest to reclaim Ghana’s lost dominance in youth football and book their ticket to the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations. With less than a month remaining, the determination in camp is palpable, the energy electric, and the dream alive: to fly the Black Star high once again.
