Ghanaian striker Kwasi Okyere Wriedt has opened up about the most difficult period of his career, admitting that his brief stint in Turkey left him with painful memories.
The 31-year-old, now leading the line for Alemannia Aachen in Germany, has enjoyed a football journey that has taken him across several European leagues. From his prolific days with Bayern Munich’s U23s, where he became a household name, to spells in the Eredivisie and the 2. Bundesliga, Wriedt has always been driven by ambition.
But in a candid interview with Liga3online, the forward revealed that his six-month stay in Turkey remains a decision he regrets.
“The six months in Turkey have hurt me,” Wriedt admitted. “I had certain reservations before going, but I still took the step. Looking back, the chaos was even greater than I could have ever imagined.”
He explained that constant changes in club leadership and coaching made it almost impossible to focus on football. “Clubs change their presidents just as quickly as their coaches. Amidst these power struggles, concentrating on the sporting side becomes virtually impossible,” he added.
Despite the setback, Wriedt says he has taken valuable lessons from the experience as he continues his career in Germany’s 3. Liga.
