Nigeria’s U17 women’s team, the Flamingos, are sharpening their claws for next month’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco after recording two emphatic friendly victories in Abuja.
On Friday, September 12, 2025, the girls in green outclassed Horvel Angels 2–0 at the FIFA Goal Project. Chisom Nwachukwu pounced on a goalkeeping error to break the deadlock, before Kaosara Olanrewaju sealed the win with a composed second-half strike.
Barely 24 hours later, the Flamingos turned on the style again, dismantling Nazareth Angels 5–0. After racing to a 2–0 lead before halftime, Itodore Destiny made it three just after the restart. Terlumu Tabitha and the ever-dangerous Nwachukwu completed the rout, underscoring the team’s firepower despite a handful of missed chances.
With all invited players now in camp, head coach Bankole Olowookere has the full squad at his disposal as Nigeria prepares to battle Canada, France, and Samoa in Group D from October 17 to November 8. The back-to-back wins highlight the Flamingos’ growing confidence, attacking depth, and defensive discipline as the countdown to Morocco gathers pace.
