AS Roma Eye January Move for Super Eagles Star Ademola Lookman

AS Roma are reportedly plotting a January swoop for Nigeria international Ademola Lookman, according to Football Italia.

Former Serie A striker Nicola Ventola, who once played for Inter, Atalanta, and Bari, believes the Giallorossi will make a move to sign the Atalanta winger in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Lookman had been keen on joining Inter Milan last summer, but the Nerazzurri were unable to meet Atalanta’s €50 million valuation. The 26-year-old was subsequently frozen out of the squad in August, before recently returning to action under Gian Piero Gasperini.

Ventola suggested that Roma could reignite interest in the Super Eagles forward, especially with the team looking to add creativity and pace on the flanks.

> “I think they’ll try. Lookman can change the team,” Ventola told Viva El Futbol via Calciomercato.com.

“If you have Lookman on one side and Soulé on the other, Dovbyk wouldn’t struggle that much. Gasperini isn’t happy with what he has — he’s working, but his goal is to strengthen the team with players who fit his style.”

Meanwhile, Lookman featured for the Super Eagles in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho, which ended 2-1 in favour of the visitors. Second-half goals from William Troost-Ekong and Akor Adams gave Nigeria a crucial victory in Group C.

However, the Atalanta forward will miss the next match against Benin Republic in Uyo on Tuesday due to suspension after accumulating yellow cards.
