Ghana’s rising football talent Douglas Owusu is on the verge of taking a major leap in his young career after successfully completing his medical examinations ahead of a move to Serbian powerhouse Red Star Belgrade.
The highly-rated 19-year-old attacker has cleared the final medical hurdle and is now poised for official unveiling by the Belgrade giants. The deal will see Owusu sign a three-year contract, with the option of an additional year—signaling Red Star’s long-term confidence in his ability and potential.
To secure his signature, Red Star have reportedly agreed to pay around €2.7 million to FK Radnik Surdulica, a significant investment that reflects how highly the club rates the Ghanaian youngster. Once the paperwork is finalized, Owusu is expected to join his new teammates in Antalya, Turkey, where Red Star are currently holding their mid-season training camp.
Owusu’s rise has been nothing short of impressive. During the first half of the Serbian Super Liga season, his outstanding performances earned him a spot in the Team of the First Round. He found the net seven times in 20 league appearances, while also standing out for his relentless pressing, intelligent movement, and sharp link-up play.
Since joining Radnik in 2024 from Asekem FC in Ghana, Owusu has adapted seamlessly to European football. His rapid development and consistent displays quickly made him one of Radnik’s key players, drawing attention from clubs across Europe and Africa.
Now, as he prepares to step onto a bigger stage with one of the most decorated clubs in the Balkans, Owusu’s journey serves as another powerful reminder of Ghana’s rich pipeline of emerging football talent—ready to shine on the European and continental stage.
