German-Born Ghanaian Winger Charles Herrmann Close to Cercle Brugge Switch

Highly rated German-born Ghanaian youngster Charles Herrmann is edging closer to a move to Belgian Pro League side Cercle Brugge in the ongoing January transfer window.

The 20-year-old winger is expected to leave Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach, with multiple reports from German media confirming advanced talks between the two clubs. Herrmann only joined Mönchengladbach from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2024 on a four-and-a-half-year contract, but is now set for an early exit.

According to Sky Germany, the deal will be a permanent transfer, with Borussia Mönchengladbach set to receive around €1 million plus performance-related bonuses for the talented wide man.

Despite his promise, Herrmann has struggled to fully meet expectations in the Bundesliga this season. He has made 16 appearances across all competitions, registering two goals and three assists.

Herrmann, who is the son of former Ghana international Charles Kwablan Akonnor, remains eligible to represent Ghana at senior international level, even though he has featured for Germany’s youth national teams.
