Ghana international Jonas Adjetey has expressed excitement after completing a move to Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg, describing the transfer as a major step forward in his career.
The 22-year-old centre-back joined Wolfsburg from Swiss heavyweights FC Basel on transfer deadline day and has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at the club until 2030.
Speaking to Wolfsburg’s official website, Adjetey said the opportunity to play in Germany’s top flight is one he is eager to embrace.
“It means a lot to me to be in the Bundesliga now and take this step with VfL Wolfsburg,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to getting started immediately and will give everything every day to help us achieve the results we need.”
The move comes at a pivotal moment in Adjetey’s development. The defender has already earned senior caps for Ghana during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and will be keen to establish himself as a regular starter in Germany.
Strong and consistent performances in the Bundesliga could significantly boost his chances of securing a place in the Black Stars squad for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
