Ghana’s Black Princesses were held to a 2–2 draw by South Africa in the first leg of their U-20 World Cup qualifying tie at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Princesses began the match on the front foot, with Agnes Yeboah testing the goalkeeper early, while Diana Amoako and Linda Owusu Ansah came close to opening the scoring. Yeboah eventually broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time, giving Ghana a 1–0 lead at the break.
South Africa responded quickly after the restart, leveling the score. Ghana regained the advantage in the 52nd minute when Linda Owusu Ansah converted a header from a corner.
Despite periods of dominance, the Black Princesses could not maintain their lead. South Africa struck again in the 80th minute, and the match ended 2–2.
The draw leaves the tie finely poised ahead of the return leg in South Africa, where the Black Princesses will need a strong performance to secure U-20 World Cup qualification.
