Walters Praises Rak-Sakyi’s ‘Exciting and Direct’ Game After Stoke City Loan Move

Stoke City sporting director Jonathan Walters has praised the “exciting and direct” style of new loan signing Jesurun Rak-Sakyi following his arrival from Crystal Palace for the remainder of the season.

Walters revealed that the winger had been on Stoke’s radar well before the January transfer window, expressing satisfaction at finally securing his services for the crucial final phase of the campaign.

“Having identified Jesurun as a target prior to the January transfer window, we are now delighted to make him a Stoke City player for the season’s final third,” Walters said.

The sporting director highlighted Rak-Sakyi’s proven end product, pointing to his consistent contributions in front of goal across his career, including an impressive spell in the Championship last season.

“He has provided goals and assists throughout his career to date, including in last season’s Championship for Sheffield United, when he was a standout forward player,” he added.

Walters also believes the 23-year-old winger’s attacking approach will quickly resonate with the club’s supporters.

“The way he plays the game is exciting and direct, so I’m sure our supporters will quickly take to him and make him feel completely at home.”

Rak-Sakyi brings valuable second-tier experience, having scored seven goals in 22 starts to help Sheffield United reach last season’s Championship play-off final. He began the current campaign in Turkey with Çaykur Rizespor, where he registered four goals and one assist.

The former England Under-21 international, who will wear the number 21 shirt, now links up with Mark Robins’ squad as Stoke City aim to add a dynamic attacking edge in the closing stretch of the season.
