🇬🇭 A Call for Unity: Osei Kofi Backs Kwesi Appiah Return to Restore Black Stars Cohesion

Black Stars legend Osei Kofi has thrown his support behind the return of Kwesi Appiah as Ghana searches for a new head coach following the departure of Otto Addo.

The Ghana Football Association is currently reviewing both local and international candidates as it looks to make a crucial appointment ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In an interview with Sportsblog247.com, Osei Kofi emphasized that Appiah’s deep understanding of Ghanaian football gives him a clear advantage over foreign coaches.

According to him, bringing in a foreign manager would require time for adaptation, whereas Appiah already understands the culture, system, and identity of the Black Stars—making him a practical and immediate solution.

Beyond the coaching debate, the former forward highlighted what he sees as the team’s biggest challenge: a lack of cohesion. Despite the abundance of talented players, he believes the squad has yet to come together as a united and effective team.

Referencing a past conversation with John Agyekum Kufuor, Osei Kofi stressed that success is not defined by individual qualities alone but by collective strength and unity.

His remarks add to the growing conversation about Ghana’s future direction, as opinions remain divided between maintaining continuity with a local coach and introducing a fresh perspective from abroad.

With friendly matches against Mexico and Wales approaching, and World Cup fixtures against Panama, Croatia, and England on the horizon, the pressure is mounting on the GFA to make a timely and decisive choice.

The coming weeks will be crucial as Ghana aims to rebuild, stabilize, and form a more cohesive unit capable of competing on the global stage.
