Super Eagles interim manager Augustine Eguavoen has expressed disappointment over his team’s inability to capitalize on numerous chances in their narrow 1-0 victory against Libya. Despite setting up his side with an attacking mindset, Nigeria struggled to break down Libya’s defensive approach. Eguavoen, who took charge last month, admitted that the team was slow in the first half but improved after the break.
Eguavoen said, “We should have scored more, but their compact defense made it difficult. The last 25 minutes were better, with faster ball circulation.”
The win keeps Nigeria on course for AFCON 2025 qualification, but the team will face a challenging away fixture against Libya in Benghazi on Tuesday.
