Former Southampton midfielder Carlton Palmer has shared his thoughts on why Bright Osayi-Samuel would be an excellent addition to Norwich City. The English Championship club is reportedly considering a move for the Super Eagles right-back ahead of the January transfer window, looking to capitalize on his current contract situation with Fenerbahçe.

Despite losing several key players over the summer, Norwich has had a strong start to the season, currently sitting just one point off a playoff spot. The club aims to build on this momentum by enhancing their squad with signings like Osayi-Samuel, who is familiar with English football.

At 26 years old, Osayi-Samuel began his career at Blackpool before moving to Queens Park Rangers and later transferring to Fenerbahçe in 2021. However, his return to England could be on the horizon if he does not agree to a contract extension with the Turkish side.

In an interview with Football League World, Palmer explained why Osayi-Samuel would be a valuable asset for manager Johannes Hoff Thorup. “He has moved back to full-back playing for Fenerbahçe, but he used to be a winger at QPR. He’s got plenty of energy, plenty of unpredictability, and he can play down the right flank,” Palmer noted.

“If they can get him back, I think it would be a fantastic move for Norwich. Since moving to Turkey, he has won the cup and they’ve been consistently challenging at the top of the league. He’s experienced, which would be good for Thorup, and he can operate in two positions. Depending on the transfer fee, this could be fantastic business for Norwich, currently in 7th place in the Championship.”

Osayi-Samuel has around eight months remaining on his contract at Fenerbahçe, and efforts to secure an extension have reportedly not been successful, increasing the likelihood of a transfer in January. Besides Norwich, he has also attracted interest from Crystal Palace and defending Turkish champions Galatasaray.
